Periodically, Calusa welcomes visiting specialists to the practice in order to offer clients and other area pet owners the opportunity to see some of the country’s top, boarded veterinary specialists. These special engagements are scheduled in advance and require an appointment. If your pet is suffering from a complicated health issue and your regular veterinarian advises consulting with such a specialist, we invite you to contact our offices to coordinate a visit. We are proud to offer pet owners the ability to see a wide variety of veterinarians, including specialists in the following areas:
Davin J Borde, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology)
Dr. Borde is a graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a three year cardiology residency at the Veterinary Heart Institute and has written several book chapters and lectured across the United States and the Caribbean.
Jeffrey Toll, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal Internal Medicine)
Dr. Jeff Toll graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. After 5 years in general practice, Dr. Toll completed a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell University, becoming board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 1998. He served one year at Cornell University as a Lecturer in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Toll was then employed at the Animal Medical Center in Cooper City, Florida from 1998 to 2007, where he practiced veterinary internal medicine, supervised canine and feline blood donor programs, established the first veterinary hemodialysis service in Florida, performed clinical research, authored numerous scientific publications, and trained interns and residents. Dr. Toll is a member of the ACVIM Board of Regents and past president of the ACVIM Foundation.
David Spranklin, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons
Dr. Spranklin is a fifth generation veterinarian. He received his D.V.M. from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and completed his internship at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Spranklin completed his surgical residency at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Dr. Spranklin performs soft tissue, orthopedic, oncologic and neurosurgery with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and arthroscopy). He is a board certified member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) as well as a member of the AVMA and BCVMA.
