Periodically, Calusa welcomes visiting specialists to the practice in order to offer clients and other area pet owners the opportunity to see some of the country’s top, boarded veterinary specialists. These special engagements are scheduled in advance and require an appointment. If your pet is suffering from a complicated health issue and your regular veterinarian advises consulting with such a specialist, we invite you to contact our offices to coordinate a visit. Cardiology
Davin J Borde, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology)
Dr. Borde is a graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a three year cardiology residency at the Veterinary Heart Institute and has written several book chapters and lectured across the United States and the Caribbean.

David Spranklin, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons
Dr. Spranklin is a fifth generation veterinarian. He received his D.V.M. from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and completed his internship at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Spranklin completed his surgical residency at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Dr. Spranklin performs soft tissue, orthopedic, oncologic and neurosurgery with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and arthroscopy). He is a board certified member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) as well as a member of the AVMA and BCVMA.
