Born and raised in the small town of Lenox, Iowa, Dr. Aurora J. Arevalo completed her undergraduate studies at Morningside University in Sioux City, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. A standout student-athlete, she attended college on a track and field scholarship and became a three-time national qualifier, three-time All-American, and national runner-up in the women’s heptathlon, a demanding two-day event that includes hurdles, high jump, shot put, sprinting, long jump, javelin, and an 800-meter run.
Dr. Arevalo earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2023 and remained there to complete a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center, where she gained advanced training in emergency and specialty care. She later moved to Florida to continue her work in small animal medicine.
She is Fear Free Certified and holds both Basic and Advanced RECOVER certifications in veterinary CPR. Dr. Arevalo is also an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS).
Outside of work, Dr. Arevalo enjoys sewing, powerlifting, and staying active. She brings energy, focus, and a deep sense of compassion to every patient interaction, and she's always aiming to help pets live healthier, happier lives alongside the people who love them.
