- [Dr. Karina Ordoñez](https://www.cvcboca.com/staff/veterinarians/dr-karina-ordonez/): Dr. Karina Ordoñez was born and raised in West Palm Beach. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Florida in 2019 and then pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at the University of Arizona, graduating in 2024.
- [Dr. Augusta Pelosi](https://www.cvcboca.com/staff/veterinarians/dr-augusta-pelosi/): Dr. Pelosi was born and raised in Italy. She attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Universita' di Pisa and the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Erasmus program) and earned her DVM degree from the Universita' di Pisa. Upon moving to the United States in 2001, she has obtained the ECFVG certification. Dr. Pelosi completed a small animal rotating internship at the Cumming's School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.She continued her education with a surgery and cardiology residency at Michigan State University where she remained as a professor in cardiology until 2016. She is board certified in both surgery and cardiology. She has taught veterinary students, interns and residents for over 10 years, she has contributed to research advancement in cardiac surgery and has been actively involved in several academic leadership positions. Dr. Pelosi also created and directed the Michigan State University - open heart surgery team. She has since relocated to Southern Florida, worked locally before creating her own practice, the Veterinary Heart Institute (VHI). She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota - Department of Surgery. She has worked as both a surgeon and cardiology consultant for several companies. She has authored several publications and book chapters. Her primary focus is cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. She is actively involved in several committees within ACVIM and ACVS.Outside of work, she is a certified yoga instructor (RYT200, completing her RYT500), she loves teaching and practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time with her family (Sofia and Zeno, and two cats Micio and Bella) traveling, cooking, and learning languages. She fluently speaks Italian, English, Spanish and basic Portuguese, French and Catalan.Our Doctor believes in treating every patient as if it was her own pet. She is a highly trained, experienced animal lover who is devoted to giving patients the best care possible.

Dr. Raquel Fuentes is an internal medicine veterinary specialist with us at Calusa Veterinary Center. Raquel graduated from her alma mater, School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin. After becoming a veterinarian, she moved to California where she completed both general and internal medicine internships.She is currently licensed and practicing here in Florida. We are so excited to have her and her team join us.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Animal Science from the University of Vermont. She then proceeded to acquire her Master of Science degree at Tufts University in Animals and Public Policy. In 2024, Courtney received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Cum Laude Honors from St. George’s University, and her clinical training from the University of Florida.Throughout her studies, she has worked with a plethora of animals ranging from dogs, cats, exotics, wildlife, as well as farm animals. During her schooling, Dr. Glotzer became very interested in shelter, wildlife, emergency medicine, and general practice. She externed and worked at a number of places throughout New England and Florida, but her favorites include South Florida Wildlife Center, Broward County Humane Society and of course, Calusa Veterinary Center.During her time at St. George’s University, she started a student run organization that she named WAG (Wellness, Aid and Guidance) which provided support for both owned and homeless animals that were in need of advanced medical treatment in Grenada. Dr. Glotzer is extremely passionate about helping rescue animals and finding them loving homes.During her free time you can find her at the dog beach with her Coonhound named Oakley or playing with her cat, named Moo. Dr. Glotzer is ecstatic to have joined the Calusa Veterinary Center, as she long admired their skill set, compassion, and loyalty to animals and their owners.

While new to us, she is not new to the South Florida community, having worked as an assistant at a local veterinary practice from age 16. Despite her passion for veterinary medicine, she worked her way through nursing school at Broward College and FAU. Upon completion, she realized that four legged creatures where much more her calling, so she followed her heart and enrolled in St. George’s University in Grenada, where she not only received her DVM degree in 2006, but survived the onslaught of hurricane Ivan that slammed the island during her junior year!

Dr. Bridget Dermott grew up in South Florida where she graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Zoologic Medicine. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with Cum Laude Honors in 2017. She also received education in Clinical Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florida. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.Dr. Dermott works as a General Practitioner and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) specializing in post-surgical, geriatric, and sports medicine physical therapy. Her professional skills include acupuncture, general practice, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, rehabilitative therapy, and Fear Free Medicine. Dr. Dermott is grateful to work with a team of supportive and skilled veterinary professionals with the common goal to keep pets happy and healthy. Dr. Dermott resides in Delray Beach, Florida. When Dr. Dermott is not caring for pets at Calusa Veterinary Center, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and fur babies. She has a yorkie-poo named Gracie Lou, who is the social butterfly of the clinic. Dr. Dermott has special interests in travel, painting, and photography.
