November 2013 Pets of the Month – ”GYPSY” & “KONA” Horn
Date: November 1, 2013Calusa Veterinary Center would like to introduce our November 2013 “Pets of the Month”.
They are ”GYPSY” and “KONA” Horn.
What an honor! Thank you Dr. Turkell and the wonderful staff at Calusa for choosing Gypsy and Kona as Pets Of The Month. Gypsy and Kona both came to me shortly after the loss of my two other sweet dogs, and both have brought me unimaginable comfort and love. Gypsy was tossed out with a litter of 8 White German puppies, being sent to the Humane Society. My daughter Marisa found out about them and rescued her, and brought her to me. She was the dirtiest white dog ever, but after a good bath she became the most beautiful white dog ever. She was about 3 months old and now she is nearly 11. Without a doubt, Gypsy is the most intelligent dog I have ever had. She actually anticipates my every move, and when I am not feeling well she never leaves my side. She is loving and gentle and loves everyone. We came to Dr. Turkell following emergency spinal surgery at U of F Veterinary Hospital. When I brought her home she could not walk and I was desperate to find the best veterinary therapist for her. Luck was on my side when I found Dr. Turkell. When we met he said “I’ll make her walk”—-and so he did. She is still under his care and will continue here, as she also has hip dysplasia and she is doing great. Kona came to me as a frightened pup. She was about 1 1/2 years old, now 11. For the first part of her life she had various owners who were unable to handle her fears, and was finally she was found in a garbage dump. When rescued, she was brought to Dr. Brian Butzer and he brought her to me, knowing I had just lost one of my dogs. She and Gypsy bonded immediately and to this day they are never out of sight of each other, always kissing, touching and playing together. Kona is the sweetest, most gentle soul I have ever met. She, like Gypsy, loves the world and in turn the world loves her. Kona is frightened by any loud noise, and when thunder roars I know I can find her under my bed, with just her nose sticking out. For a long time she would tremble when a garbage truck drove by and she would find Gypsy and snuggle close to her. But overall she is now a well adjusted, happy girl, living the life of a princess with her best friend. How lucky I am to have such wonderful best friends and we are all so lucky to have her, Dr. Turkell and his great staff to care for them.
Congratulations to “GYPSY & KONA” Horn and family for being voted as Calusa’s November 2013 Pet’s of the Month!
