Homeopathy is an increasingly popular alternative system of healing. Like all natural therapies, homeopathy seeks to stimulate the innate healing power of the individual so that all systems can function at their best. The homeopathic remedy does not directly treat a symptom or condition; instead it helps to initiate the process by which the animal heals him or herself.
Calusa Veterinary Center’s own, Dr. Anthony Krawitz, leads this alternative treatment program. Trained at the prestigious Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy under Dr. Richard Pitcairn, Dr. Krawitz is a fully accredited veterinary homeopath who utilizes the classical methodology to treat patients. Dr. Krawitz is one of Florida’s only veterinary homeopaths and is one of the foremost experts in the field, having served as a member of the homeopathic certification committee at the AVH, and having spoken on numerous occasions at industry conferences on the topic.
Typically, homeopathy is used as the sole form of treatment in an animal and is not usually mixed with other holistic or conventional forms of treatment. Such interference from conventional treatments is believed to disrupt the homeopathic treatment plans set in place by the veterinarians. The guiding principle of homeopathy is the “law of similars,” or “like cures like.” It states that any substance which can cause a set of symptoms in a healthy animal can cure those same symptoms in a sick animal. The symptoms that sick animals experience are therefore the most important guide to the choice of the correct remedy.
